The last blog was posted quite some time back. The summer is busiest time of the year for me with all sorts of (non firetruck related) activities. But the work did not stop!
One of the things that needed to be done was to modify the front wheelarches. The standard rims are 17,5" split rim truckstyle. The new rims are 16" standard type that will be fitted with large 285/75/16 offroad tires that don't fit the standard body.
The rear wheelarches also needed some extra attention
Also a secondhand whinch was added to the partspile
Some more welding was needed on the bottom of the battery box
One of the biggest welding jobs was the part behind the rightside rear wheel...
Some more random welding pictures :-)
The kitchen unit and bed (both necessary for the admission test) are also ready to go
In order to be able to weld/repair the rusted sections the tank needed to come off
On the righside of the rear bumper there is a small rust hole, time to fix it!
Looks like there is more rust than expected... :-(
Sheet metal time
All the holes are fixed! :-D
The painting of the floor can begin, this is how it looked after the first layer
For my birthday a got a little gift from my colleagues at work
The time has come, the roof will be cut..
The time has come to place the poptop. But how to do it all by myself?
Second layer of paint applied and drying
The van was allowed to tow a trailer weighing a maximum of 1780kg but after changing the towhitch it can be up to 2500kg
A small addition to the window
After a succesfull groupbuy some custom made rims were ready to be picked up (R16 8J ET35)
Picture below is taken on the 28th of October and shows the current state of the van
